Leverich, Charles P. and Henry S., papers, 1794-1897.

Financial records, ledgers, accounts and photographs document the extensive mercantile, banking and factoring business dealings of brothers Charles P. and Henry S. Leverich. Accounting records contain hundreds of entries relating to railroad and real estate investments, personal and mercantile loans to planters, cotton and sugar sales information, and shipping records and manifestos. Financial records of slaveholders, including Mrs. Mary Porter, William J. Minor, Dr. Stephen Duncan and William Mercer, contain costs and inventories of plantation supplies and personal items, investment transactions, expense accounts, loans and advances on securities and sales. The papers are representative of the 19th century economic history of the South, especially of Louisiana and Mississippi.
